Mondragon Unibertsitatea receives the China Chair Award

Mondragon Unibertsitatea, awarded at the VIII China Chair Awards for its work in internationalization and educational collaboration with China.

Mondragon Unibertsitatea received the first prize in the Academic category during the ceremony of the VIII China Chair Awards. This prestigious recognition, awarded by the China Chair Association, highlights the trajectory of the University in building educational and business bridges between East and West.

A ceremony that recognizes international effort and collaboration.

The event, held in Madrid, was presented by Jiaping Ma, who gave context and kicked off the awards ceremony. Rafael de Mora, secretary of the China Chair Association, proceeded to read the minutes of the award winners. Subsequently, Javier Porras and Dong Deng, vice-presidents of the China Chair Foundation, presented Mondragon Unibertsitatea as the winner of this category.

The award was collected by the Rector of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Vicente Atxa, who in his speech highlighted the university's main milestones in its 20 years of collaboration with China, including the implementation of the innovative LEINN (Leadership Entrepreneurship and Innovation) degree and its global impact.

20 years building bridges between China and Europe

Mondragon Unibertsitatea has worked tirelessly for two decades to foster the connection between cultures through education and innovation. Among the milestones highlighted by Atxa in his speech were:

  • 800 LEINN entrepreneurs/students who have participated in “learning journeys” in China, with immersive experiences in business and social environments in the country since 2012.
  • More than 150 Chinese professionals trained in innovation and entrepreneurship masters of Mondragon Unibertsitatea.
  • 100 Chinese students and teachers who have visited Europe to learn about the university's educational innovation laboratories.
  • Pioneering programs such as TEAMINN and MINN, focused on the development of entrepreneurial teams and intrapreneurship.

In addition, the rector recalled the University's commitment to the philosophy of Nan Huai Chin and the values of harmony and cultural integration that have guided his work.

A future full of possibilities

During the gala, the importance of further strengthening relations between the two regions was highlighted. “This is just the beginning,” said Atxa. “A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a first step. Today we reaffirm our commitment to continue developing strategic projects together with China.”

This award not only recognizes past efforts, but also motivates Mondragon Unibertsitatea to continue advancing its mission to connect worlds and generate positive impact through education and innovation.
