Mondragon Assembly takes over Gorosabel Group’s solar business
The Mondragon Assembly cooperative, specialising in the development of automation solutions, has recently taken over the solar business of Gorosabel Group, a company in the solar energy industry headquartered in Mendaro, Gipuzkoa.
This takeover strengthens Mondragon Assemblyy’s position as a global leader in the solar energy sector, offering a wider range of products and gaining strength at the international level.
Shared experience
Mondragon Assembly and Gorosabel shared the market for more than a decade, supplying machines and turnkey solutions all over the world. With the takeover of Gorosabel l’s solar business, Mondragon Assembly gains the knowledge and experience of a remarkable competitor, along with its client portfolio and broad range of products. This will result in technology and business improvements in the development of solar panel assembly lines.
From now on, Mondragon Assembly will boost the development of new products in the Gorosabel range while offering technical support and repair services to the equipments already installed around the world.
About Mondragon Assembly: Established in 1988, Mondragon Assembly is a cooperative in Aretxabaleta, Gipuzkoa, with more than 200 employees. Its main line of business is industrial assembly system automation through the integration of diverse technologies. The company operates at the international level, having plants in Germany, France, Mexico, Brazil and China. In 2014, it expects its turnover to be €38 million, international sales accounting for 88% of it.
About Gorosabel Group: Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Mendaro, Gipuzkoa, Gorosabel has a staff of more than 50 people. It recently entered into an arrangement with creditors, forced by the sharp fall in the capital goods market for solar PV panel manufacturers in China. After undergoing business restructuring and rationalisation, it focused on industrial automation for all kinds of processes and equipments, including handling, automation and robotisation systems, offering comprehensive solutions in the development of tailor-made applications. The rationalisation, along with its highly specialised knowledge and experience, will enable Gorosabel to stand up on its feet again and face the future. The group expects its sales to total about €6 million in 2014.
