Mondragon Assembly has joined the 8M movement

With the aim of raising awareness of equality issues among everyone at Mondragon Assembly, it has organised a "Talented Women" week, held from 2 to 6 March. During this week several initiatives took place.

The week kicked off on 2 March with the initiative "A Coffee for Equality", in which the people from Mondragon Assembly had the opportunity to exchange different points of view on various issues, all related to equality. The idea was repeated on Thursday 5 March, with an interesting new debate and a significant increase in participation.

Moreover, during the month of January, several testimonies were recorded by women workers from Mondragon Assembly to find out about some of their professional experiences, which were subsequently broadcast in audiovisual format during the "Talented Women" week.

Mondragon Assembly, committed to future female talent in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

There is a broad consensus about the need to promote scientific and technological vocations among students and the urgency of doing so in the case of girls. The number of students opting for technology subjects is decreasing every year, and the figures are even more striking when they refer to female students. Despite the fact that 54.3% of all students in the Spanish university system are women, they only account for 26.4% in technical degrees such as Engineering and Architecture.

For this reason, and with the aim of bringing schools and women in particular closer to the industrial world, Mondragon Assembly, in collaboration with the Miguel Altuna Institute, will be organising visits to Mondragon Assembly’s production plant throughout the months of March and April.

The students who will take part in the visits are of different ages. They attend the Arizmendi Ikastola, which is part of the MONDRAGON Corporation and is the Basque Country’s largest ikastola (Basque-medium school). During the visits, different leisure activities will be offered to give the visitors the chance to get first-hand knowledge of an engineering company.
