Iñigo Ucín to be next President of the MONDRAGON Corporation’s General Council
The Standing Committee of the MONDRAGON Cooperative Congress, chaired by Javier Goienetxea, today unanimously agreed to appoint Iñigo Ucín as the next President of the MONDRAGON Corporation’s General Council.
Mr. Ucín will take over the post from Javier Sotil on August 1 when Mr. Sotil reaches retirement age and ends his term as President of the MONDRAGON General Council.
Iñigo Ucín was born in Azkoitia in the province of Gipuzkoa in 1960 and has a degree in Economics and Business Studies from Deusto University. He also obtained a Master’s Degree in Innovation Management at the same university.
Professional career
Mr. Ucín’s career is linked to Danobatgroup, where he started out as Finance Manager of the machine tool company Izarraitz, later becoming Human Resources Manager of the same firm.
After Izarraitz’s merger with Danobat, Iñigo Ucín was appointed Product Business Unit Manager of the absorbed company, combining this post with that of Controller at Danobatgroup.
In 1998 he took on the post of Manager at the Danobat cooperative, later becoming Vice-President of the MONDRAGON Machine Tool Division (September 2012) and Managing Director of Danobatgroup. Since June 2015 he has combined this post with the Vice-Presidency of the Industrial Automation Division.
He is also currently President of the Governing Council of Mondragón University.
His career has always been closely linked to the machine tool sector, which has traditionally focused on international expansion and innovation strategies. His profile is that of a Manager with a wide practical knowledge of the vital importance of competing on international markets, and he has also had a personal impetus for innovation on the highly competitive machine tool market.
Iñigo Ucín will take over the Presidency of the group on August 1, after the Corporation's Annual Congress on July 20, at which two presentations will be debated, one called “The MONDRAGON of the Future” and the other concerning the group’s social and business policy for the strategic period 2017-2020.
