Fagor Ederlan, finalist in the Daimler Supplier Award 2018
Fagor Ederlan was a finalist in the “Partnership” category of the “Daimler Supplier Award 2018”. The event, held on 20th February at the Carl Benz Arena in Stuttgart, headquarters of Daimler in Germany, was attended by more than 450 international companies, among which was the cooperative from Gipuzkoa.
These annual awards recognize excellence achieved by Daimler’s suppliers in aspects such as “partnership”, “quality” and “innovation”.
Ten awards were presented in 3 main categories: Mercedes-Benz Cars Procurement & Supplier Quality, International Procurement Services y Daimler Trucks & Buses. In the Partnership category Fagor Ederlan competed alongside the international LEAR corporation and the American multinational Corning, both leading companies.
During the ceremony, Daimler spotlighted Fagor Ederlan as a specialist in Chassis and Powertrain applications and one of the key suppliers of axle components, noting that Fagor Ederlan’s tremendous effort, knowledge and global resources have ensured the successful launch of the MFA2 project aimed at A, B, CLA, CLB class models and electric versions.
This project, launched globally at plants in the Basque Country, Mexico and China, has been key in Fagor Ederlan’s latest step in international development, in addition to positioning it as a benchmark supplier among premium brands such as Daimler and BMW, customers of the cooperative.
During the event, those attending were privy to Daimler’s vision of the automotive business and market, as well as it strategies for the future. The event was presided over by Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, along with people from his team such as Wilko A. Stark, member of the Divisional Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Cars for Procurement and Supplier Quality. The latter stated that “In the film industry it’s the Oscar - for us it’s the Daimler Supplier Award. The highest award given for best performance”.
Daimler- Fagor Ederlan: 20 years of involvement
Fagor Ederlan and Daimler have had a strong business relationship for more than 20 years.
With a sales turnover of more than €45 million in 2018, it is one of the cooperative’s most important global customers to whom it supplies components such as iron and aluminium steering knuckles, in Europe, China and North America.
Javier Egurcegui, Market Manager of the Fagor Ederlan Group, and Eduardo Fernandez, manager of the Edertek technology centre, attended the event and highlighted its importance: “Daimler is one of the mainstays of our current and future projection. It represents a customer where not only is the business factor a key element, but also the capacity for innovation and development are central axes of our relationship. This recognition is a great honour for Fagor Ederlan, motivating and driving us to continue surpassing our customer’s expectations”.
Fagor Ederlan, starts off 2019 with this highly appreciated recognition, following a 2018 with €660 million in sales and during which the cooperative strengthened its socio-business project and international projection with an acquisition level to ensure the portfolio for the next 4 years, both in light and commercial vehicles, key business development sectors for the group.
