The Basque Research Center in microtechnologies, CIC microGUNE, following its strategy of establishing relationships with international reference centers, has strengthened its collaboration with the Dublin City University (DCU), with which already has several collaborations around new functional materials and their integration in micro electromechanical systems (MEMS). This way, the researcher of CIC microGUNE Lourdes Basabe Desmonts, has recently obtained an adjunct appointment at the School of Faculty of Science and Health for the next three years.

Basabe, who is also Ikerbasque Researcher, has worked previously at the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute (BDI), an interdisciplinary research center dependent on the DCU, dedicated to the generation of bioanalytical platforms for rapid diagnosis. This appointment will allow her to continue with the relationship with the DCU, collaborating on research projects, by supervising the research.

This collaboration joins to the also CIC microGUNE researcher Fernando Benito Lopez, adjunct faculty in the DCU since last year. Benito-Lopez worked previously at the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR), a research centre dependent on the mentioned educational institution.
