Last July, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) declared to Fagor Ederlan Group its contribution as a supplier to the development of its products. The award was given to him in the "impact" category, which praises the suppliers who actually make a significant change. The award ceremony took place in Gaydon, England, on 18th of June, in the 8th edition of its supply network. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has about 2,000 direct suppliers, invited 50 and rewarded only 5.

And Fagor Ederlan Group was one of them...

Being in that select group of 50 is already extraordinary, and being among the top five companies, a great achievement. With his Board of Directors, chaired by CEO Adrian Mardell, we had the opportunity to interact and learn about their product, marketing, digitization, talent management and technology strategy. We also had the privilege of being in the exclusive revelation of the new Jaguar models that will become the product line by 2025, and we have seen that the reinvention of the brand is moving towards a modern luxury. Surprinsingly, the Board of Directors also discovered with us these future commercialisations, reflecting the close and strategic relationship they intend to maintain with key suppliers.

How many years do you have a relationship with this client?

We have been a supplier of iron and aluminium chassis components for over 40 years, expanding our range of products and collaborating with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in technological development. Today, we are equipped with a variety of technologies and we are helping to create key parts for electric propulsion systems, key to the strategy of its four brands: Jaguar, Defender, Range Rover and Discovery.

"A Jaguar Land Rover executive publicy praised our cooperative model and highlighted the importance of people being the centrepiece of our project"

What does this award mean for Fagor Ederlan Group?

That means JLR sees us as a key technological collaborator who value our contribution. It is a recognition of the effort made over the past 40 years to achieve excellence in the quality, services, innovation and sustainability of our products. Many of the members of Fagor Ederlan's team have made this recognition possible; we join them in this achievement and thank them for their dedication and commitment.

Do you have any interesting plans to highlight with this brand?

The ability to maintain fluid and adequate communication allows us to participate from the earliest stages in the new developments of our client. Indeed, we are creating new and innovative projects that will probably have a significant impact on both Fagor Ederlan and JLR in the future.

The awards are usually the endorsement of a management, but you, who work directly with them, what do you think of Fagor Ederlan Group as a supplier?

In the coming years, the ESG criteria will be crucial. These include reducing vehicle emissions and industrial processes, promoting a positive relationship with local communities, promoting equality and diversity within working groups and strong corporate governance. We must also continue to maintain excellence in the development and production of our products. During the presentation of our nomination, an JLR executive publicly praised our cooperative model and highlighted that people are the main focus of our project. It was exciting to hear it from a person who was far removed from the cooperative movement.

Anything else to highlight?

I would like to say that JLR invited us to the final Formula E World Cup event in London on July 20, where the TCS Jaguar Racing team competed, and with its associated team, Envision Racing, won the team world championship. We had the opportunity to spend the day with the members of the Board of Directors and the main sponsors. It was an exciting day, when we learned about this competition. Although it has similarities with F1, it is very different, and JLR is closely linked to electrification strategy.
