Prizes awarded for the fifth “MAIER International Design Competition”

All the projects taking part were linked to the Colour & Trim field, which deals with the design of colours, materials and textures for vehicle decor. There was a prize fund of €15,000 for the winners of this year’s competition. A total of 93 projects were put forward from countries such as France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Spain, China, India, Brazil and the USA. The prize-giving ceremony took place on 6 September at the Automotive Intelligence Center in Zornotza (Bizkaia) and was attended by Imanol Pradales, the Director of Economic Development from the Provincial Government of Bizkaia; Txema Gisasola, President of MONDRAGON Corporation; and Jean Pierre Ploué, Design Manager from the Peugeot-Citroen Group, among others.

LKS will design the new site for the Bombay high court in Panaji (India)

The current site for the Bombay High Court at Panaji (Goa State) is located in the Altinho district and it is insufficient for the current needs. Thus, it is proposed to be transferred to the area of Penha da Franca, in the municipality of Bardez, Taluka.

The Basque Cooperative Research Centre CIC microGUNE has the aim of promoting microtechnologies to become a driving force for the competitiveness of products, processes and services of the Basque Country. This is the main goal of its Science, Technology and Specialization Plan, that will guide its activities over the next three years, until 2016.

Canadian Professor embarks on a European bike tour for co-operation

A Canadian Professor has started a cycling tour of Europe where he will visit co-operatives in nine countries. André Martin from the Institute for Research and Education for Co-operatives and Mutuals of the University of Sherbrooke (IRECUS) started his tour at the Rochdale Pioneers Museum on August 3rd. Inspired by the International Year of Co-operatives, and connecting with other co-operators, Prof. Martin said: “I felt the strength of the movement; my work involves researching co-operatives and 2012 presented us with a great opportunity to speak about co-operatives."

Junior Co-operatives will help set up new co-operatives in the field of education

The Enpresagintza (Business Studies) faculty in Oñati was the setting for the presentation of Junior Co-operatives, a new legal structure to protect and help set up co-operatives in the field of education. Junior Co-operatives will meet the needs of Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN) students in their learning process and in setting up co-operatives. The Basque Prime Minister, Iñigo Urkullu; the rector of the University of Mondragon, Iosu Zabala; the LEINN student, Oihana Astigarraga; and the coach from Team Academy in Finland, Sari Veripáa, all took part in the presentation.
